When someone carelessly crashes into you, they are supposed to pay your medical bills and fix or buy your car and pay you money you couldn't earn because you were hurt, and they are supposed to compensate you for pain you would not have felt if they hadn't crashed into you. People are supposed to have insurance to pay this if they don't have the money themselves. Of course, I also work on all cases where you got hurt because someone was careless.

Matt is more than a car wreck lawyer. To be a car wreck lawyer, he had to learn about Insurance and Contract Law. The rules of court and the rules of evidence are the same for car wreck law suits as they are for any other civil law suit. Besides car wreck law suits, Matt has tried cases in court about insurance agent mistakes, land purchase frauds, wrongful termination, car dealer fraud, and contractor pay disputes, to name a few.

Child Custody, CPS/Grandparent Custody, Child Support, Divorce
Matt spent six weeks trying a complex property/fraud divorce lawsuit in Houston in 2014 and he handles "routine" family law cases too. The same rules of court procedure and rules of evidence apply in the divorce courts as they do in the general civil courts. Matt hopes you are not going through a family law fight. They are miserable. But if you don't protect yourself and your children, who will?

Litigation of Disputes about Property after Death or Disability
Some of the hardest fought cases Matt has seen are among heirs to property after their loved one has died. Houston has four special courts devoted to handling disagreements about the property of a person who has died or become unable to manage their own affairs (called a "guardianship"). The same rules of court procedure and rules of evidence apply in these courts as in the general civil courts. Matt has handled matters in all four of these courts, and in similar courts in Conroe and San Antonio, for example.
